Tips and Recommendations / Holiday Greetings and Winter T...
Last post by The EarthRoamer Team - December 17, 2015, 03:20:42 PM
Happy Holidays from The EarthRoamer Team!

Whether you're putting your EarthRoamer in storage for the season or planning a winter road trip, be sure to follow these cold weather tips:

- If your EarthRoamer is still in use for the season, turn on the camper air heater or keep your truck in a heated building to prevent plumbing from freezing in cold temps. Use the cold weather package if needed. Refer to your Owners Manual for use.

- Use the pass-thru cushions (if equipped) to prevent camper heat from escaping through cab windows. Use the center cushion and curtain if you do not have pass-thru cushions.

- Close the shades on camper windows to help insulate and keep heat in the camper. Don't forget the roof hatch shade!

- If not in use, winterize your truck when temperatures drop below freezing. Refer to your Manual for winterizing instructions.

- Run the air heater, hydronic, and diesel stove (if equipped) for 30 minutes before putting your truck into storage.

- While your EarthRoamer is in storage, run diesel appliances once every month for 30 minutes to keep appliances in good working condition.

- If air ride equipped, lower the air ride all the way down while in storage, to keep air pressure of the solenoids. This will prolong the life of these components while the truck is being stored.

- While in storage, keep the air tank valve open (located next to the air compressor underneath the truck, refer to your Manual for location) to prevent moisture freezing in your air system.

- If the truck is still in use, bleed air pressure once a day to relieve moisture and keep components from freezing.

- In storage, keep the fuel tanks full to prevent gelling of diesel fuel. While in use, keep as much fuel as you can in the tanks to prevent gelling.

Your Owners Manual will answer most common questions about winter use and storing your EarthRoamer. If you have questions, please contact the EarthRoamer Service Department directly at 303-833-7330 ext.302.

Adventure News / Tools
Last post by Craig Fuller - December 05, 2015, 08:45:36 AM
During the EarthRoamer Rally this year, we had an excellent presentation on tools to carry.  An article from Exploring Overland offers a very good description of what might be useful...

From the article:

Those of us who venture off the beaten track, away from AAA and perhaps even out of cell-phone range, must assume more self-sufficiency than our pavement-bound friends. There are dozens of things that can go wrong on an overland vehicle, and fixing any of them, from easy repairs such as a broken fan or serpentine belt, a split radiator hose, or dirty battery terminals—even just tightening bolts on a roof rack—up to major events such as replacing a broken CV joint or birfield, is going to require tools.

I stress to my class attendees who plan to travel that even if they have no mechanical ability whatsoever, it's still important to carry a set of tools. You'll make a lot of points with any good Samaritan who stops to help if he doesn't have to dig out his tools to use on your vehicle. And if the choice is between an attempt at a repair, or walking out, it's surprising how many total mechanical rookies have successfully muddled through quite elaborate procedures using nothing but common sense.

General Messages / The XV-HD Announced
Last post by Craig Fuller - December 03, 2015, 05:51:37 PM
EarthRoamer is pleased to announce the expansion of their product line with the highly anticipated F-750 based XV-HD. Designed to accommodate up to 8 people and boasting burly off-grid/off-road capabilities, the HD provides a much needed alternative for those looking to explore the back country without sacrificing space or amenities.

EarthRoamer has been designing, building and perfecting the Xpedition Vehicle since 2002. The current XV-LT model has been a huge success with 150 trucks on the road and a proven track record for performance and quality. With the XV-HD, EarthRoamer takes the luxury off-grid concept to new heights. Featuring massive solar arrays, a huge battery bank, 46" military tires, 200 gallons of fresh water, washer/dryer, and so much more all on a four wheel drive F-750 chassis, the HD is the ultimate adventure rig.

"The HD is our most innovative product yet," says Tyler Tatro, President and COO of EarthRoamer. "It will utilize state-of-the-art construction and systems to bring comfort and functionality to the next level."
Production is scheduled to begin late 2015.

Adventure News / Incredible Trips from Outside ...
Last post by Craig Fuller - November 30, 2015, 09:58:29 AM
Just ran across this list from OUTSIDE online....while there is not much time left in 2015...there are some great suggestions for 2016!

The lead:

Outside has been covering the adventure-travel beat for nearly four decades, and our two veteran Best of Travel writers, Tim Neville and Stephanie Pearson, have spent months poring over the latest trip offerings and scouring the globe to uncover surprising new ideas. We know this beat, and now we've narrowed your choices of hotels, destinations, and outfitters from approximately 10.6 million to 30. The final choice is still on you, but the task is at least manageable. Or maybe you'll get that trust fund.

An October story of note....

Link:  http://bit.ly/Adventure_vehicles_10-15

Lead:

Each fall, adventure-travel enthusiasts gather on a ranch in Asheville, North Carolina, to check out hundreds of tricked-out adventure cars and trucks and to learn the ins and outs of overlanding. The event's called Overland Expo, and it's basically a dream come true for the editors at Outside. If you want to drool over the most badass, go-anywhere jeeps, trucks, vans, and bikes in the world, this is the spot. Hurricane Joaquin dumped buckets of rain on this year's event, but we still spent a couple days walking around the venue rounding up our favorite rigs.

EarthRoamer News / Largest EarthRoamer Yet
Last post by Craig Fuller - November 28, 2015, 08:18:48 AM
Here's a story revealed a few months ago...but, it was the most recent "news story" I found to post...

http://bit.ly/ER_largest

The lead:

"That's cool, but you're never going to sell one." It's a sentiment that EarthRoamer, builder of some of the world's toughest off-road expedition vehicles, has heard many times over the 12 years it's been rolling product out. But it has sold them, 150 of them, in fact. The company is so confident that it will keep selling them that it is now working on an even larger, more expensive 4x4 motorhome. We previously took a look at the basic specs of the all-new XV-HD expedition vehicle, and after traveling to Overland Expo, we have a few more details about this beastly build, including its near-seven figure price tag.

ER Forum News / Hosting Hand Off
Last post by Craig Fuller - November 28, 2015, 08:12:30 AM
Posted 11/26/15

During the past few days, ER Forum founder, Bob Anderson, has handed off the administration of our Forum to me. We owe Bob a great deal of thanks...and, I am committed to building on what he and others have created that has proven so valuable to us all.

We think we managed the hand off seamlessly; but, if you have any issues, don't hesitate to reach out.  And, go to the suggestions category and share ideas.

I look forward to following our adventures!
