About the ER Forum / A Little Information About Our...
Last post by Craig Fuller - January 07, 2016, 01:02:13 PM
The EarthRoamer Forum exists to allow owners and EarthRoamer enthusiasts to share information about these remarkable expedition vehicles and the places we take them. While I'm only into my second year of owning an EarthRoamer (ER#30), I've enjoyed the adventure and benefited regularly from insights offered here on the ER Forum. When the call came for a new Administrator, I offered to insure that we keep our positive and informative conversations going.

I always had a few questions about the ER Forum.  Now, after getting much better acquainted with the operation, I thought I'd share a few things I've learned. And, I hope to encourage you to make suggestions as you think of features and ideas that can enhance the experience.

First, lets understand who can visit our Forum and what can be seen...

Guests are welcomed....and, we seem to have dozens of guests every day.  Only a few of the information items on the Forum (including this topic) can be seen by guests.  If you are a Guest and are enthusiastic about what you see, you may wish to register as a member.

Members are now and always have been approved by the Forum Administrator. As part of the process of signing-up for the Forum, you will see the "rules of the road" shall we say. They were developed largely by the service that helps groups like ours build Forums and it seems they serve us well. If posts turn in directions not consistent with our purpose, or content is objectionable, an individual forfeits membership. Having been engaged in a number of Forums, the ER Forum is the most positive and constructive I've seen and it is my hope that it remains that way.

ER Owners are a segment of the Forum membership who own an EarthRoamer which we verify. For Owners, there is content on a private board that has been from the start and remains only available to ER owners.

Posting Levels -- for all members there are definitions attached (Newbie, etc) that reflect the number of posts you have submitted. This has nothing to do with how long you've been an owner or a member, it is something the system does by keeping track of your posts....want to get that Newbie label off, post more! Maybe I should share with you that the Forum founder, Bob Anderson, passed 1,000 posts at the end of the year!

I hope this is helpful. You will find some new Boards and topics added where you can share ideas for the Forum, rate services you receive and a number of other things that have been suggested as Forum members have been surveyed.  Even the photograph at the top will change as people share unique images...

If you are a guest and wish to register, please click on the button in the upper left of the screen to join.

We should have you up and running soon, but if for any reason we miss you in a day or two, send me an email.

This is our place to make as great as we can.  Please share ideas and participate.  The more you share, the more we all benefit!

EarthRoamer News / Re: for sale
Last post by howell_jd - December 29, 2015, 02:56:19 PM
Welcome! I am not sure if there are any XV-LT regular cab EarthRoamers at all. There is one XV-LTSS regular cab for sure though! I have an XV-LT crew cab and I know of a few XV-LT super cabs. There have been a few units listed on ExpeditionPortal or eBay from time-to-time, but EarthRoamer does the best job for the consignment sales. Keep your eyes peeled there - and here of course - as it seems the upgrades from EarthRoamer are well worth the investment and units are listed regularly it seems. For myself, I look forward to a suspension update eventually.

Happy New Year!

Cheers,
Jonathan

looking for a used XV LT regular cab.  Seems like you don't see many for sale, just the 2 on the ER site?

The first day of winter is here, and we couldn't be more excited for a few months of trekking around in fresh powder! With a rig like EarthRoamer, you can forget hibernation. Grab your cold weather gear and head out to experience winter camping at its finest!

Truly one of the great bargains!  I use mine to travel to the Great Falls National Park which is 10 minutes from the house...nothing like doing a conference call while looking at the Potomac River!

Worth noting that, once you attain the age of 62, you can buy a Senior Pass, for $10, that is a lifetime pass. If you are a geezer ( like me) who enjoys the many varied National Parks, it's a great deal.

This is a great link. If anyone is considering a trip to Overland Expo this coming May, Jonathan Hanson's class on tool kits is a "must-do". He has sorted out which tools you need, and which you don't. He is a tool snob, and will warn you against cheap Chinese tools. A warning I ignored until I broke a 15mm socket while replacing shock absorbers on my FJ. Riding my bike to buy a new socket gave me time to reflect on the idea of "You get what you pay for".
